Unfreeze - Stage 1

The rational/empirical approach is a logical approach to use when unfreezing the existing parent education for the non-English speaking women. This approach is based on belief that all human beings are reasonable and intelligent, and will select opinions that offer optimum benefits to themselves and the group (Hagland & Wilkinson, 1993). Knowledge is source of power and that, if those who have knowledge and power share with those they manage, the midwives, managers and the community will understand the reasons behind the change and thus will be willing to change (Hunt, 1996 & Morison, 1992)
